Dear Hillary,
We both know we hold one common thread: we each married men who, in 1969, lived at 46 Leckford Road, Oxford. Other than that, our lives have been, well, different. But in your interview with Charlie Gibson of ABC News aired tonight, you revealed what truly binds us: Fabian.
Only here I think I've got you bested, sister: while you were president of the Fabian Fan Club, FABIAN KISSED ME.
Somewhere in my precious childhood belongings, I have the picture he signed for me at Sunnybrook Ballroom, in Pottstown, Penna., where he had come to perform with Dick Clark and some of the regulars from American Bandstand (Arlene and Kenny, for example, were there that night).
Janet Alison Kindsvatter, then a reporter for the Pottstown Mercury and our next door neighbor, had gotten back-stage tickets. Knowing that I wanted to be a reporter when I grew up *and* that I was in love with Fabian, she invited me, age 9, to come along.
So it was that after the performance, there I stood, face-to-face with the dreamboat.
"Jessica?" Fabian said when Janet introduced me. "I've never heard that name before."
And then he kissed me. On the right cheek.
If you'd like more details, just drop me an email. And be sure to let me know if you'd like a copy of the picture.
